    whole enterprise.

A no-bailout policy is ludicrous. It's not like we WANTED to bail the banksters out. We had a gun to our heads. So what do we do next time, tell them to pull the trigger? Ludicrous.

A banking fee would make bailouts self-funding.

In the absence of a banking fee, we need to set up a Socialist national bank that only lends in times of crisis, and only then under constraints.

Yes, that will go over like a lead balloon, but once investment banks realize we have a lever in place that will prevent bailouts, then they can do whatever the heck they want--without regulation even.

If you screw up, it's on you.

We'll keep liquidity in the system with our new Socialist national bank.

    •  Yeah, it is a big deal. (0+ / 0-)

I, too, am surprised the bailout fund is up for negotiation because of it's importance.  This is the 1st I'm hearing of the bill so possibly it only seems so important, I don't know.  But a Socialist bank is actually not a bad idea (except we'd call it something a bit more American).  Something like the FDIC but for large corporations.

      •  LOL, it'll be named the Socialist Bank (0+ / 0-)

soon enough. If a health reform idea coming out of the Heritage Foundation ended up as Commie health reform, then imagine what they are going to call a centrally-run bank.

Maybe they'll just skip the commie stuff and go right to, Spawn of the Devil Bank.
