I wasn't aware Prohibition was wrapped up with the scapegoating of German immigrants.

Across the Atlantic... I've heard that when coffee first came to Germany it became popular among German women who would gather to drink it and socialize and that's where "coffee klatsch" came from - it was pejorative. Coffee was seen as undermining the fine German tradition of beer-drinking.

Anyway, yeah - that Lou Engle.

ignore history. No, that's not how it goes.

There is no question that change is scary. Anytime that people's reality becomes unsettled, they become afraid. That is why the election of a moderate black man is so historic, especially when his platform was based on change. A big part of it was due to just how badly served the US had been under W.

Another problem with "change" is that it gives fringe groups a unique opportunity to stick their noses into issues that would normally be impossible for them. Engle, perhaps subconsciously, is taking that support for change and adapting it for his purposes. Just because people vote for change, that does not mean that the change will occur like we would like it to. To the contrary, surprise is quite more likely.

What we call god is merely a living creature with superior technology & understanding. If their fragile egos demand prayer, they lose that superiority.
