  •  Mexico just issued a travel alert for all (17+ / 0-)

Mexican citizens going to AZ, advising "extreme caution":

The Mexican government warned its citizens Tuesday to use extreme caution if visiting Arizona because of a tough new law that requires all immigrants and visitors to carry U.S.-issued documents or risk arrest.

And a government-affiliated agency that supports Mexicans living and working in the United States called for boycotts of Phoenix-based US Airways, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Phoenix Suns until those organizations rebuke the law.

"We are making a strong call to the Arizona government to retract this regressive and racist law that's impacting not only residents of Arizona, but people in all 50 states and in Mexico as well," said Raul Murillo, who works with the Institute for Mexicans Abroad, an autonomous agency of Mexico's Foreign Ministry.

    •  Boycotting Arizona is the best way (6+ / 0-)

for all who support Latino rights and equal rights to effectively STOP this racist travesty there.

Other companies to boycott are PetSmart, GoDaddy, Best Western, and Cold Stone Creamery.

I will continue to diary about this issue and am glad to see that more people, including the Mexican Government, are taking it seriously.

As a side note, there is a long history of some cities turning to ghost towns due to overzealous deportation laws, sometimes almost overnight.

Arizona has both boycotters from outside to economically reckon with as well as its own laws working out too well for it to its own fiscal detriment.

That's what happens when you let the racists have power.

      Never again.
