I grew up in Idaho Falls, kicked around California for several decades, then returned to Idaho 12 years ago. Things changed while I was away, and not for the better.

I now live in Caldwell which has a very large Mexican population. I love these warm, proud and industrious people. My Mexican friends always ask me what Obama's going to do. I wish I knew.

A young friend of mine is currently fighting deportation. He was a baby when he came to the States and doesn't even remember Mexico. Thank God he speaks fluent Spanish as I don't think his chances are good.

I walk around with a ball in my gut fearing that people who have loved and cared for me, treated me as family, will be rounded up like a pack of feral dogs, caged, and tossed out of a country and life that they love so well.

It's nice to know that there are others here that feel as I do. In the land of the free, I keep my mouth shut.

If you ever make it down to the Boise Market, please stop by and say hello to the old guy throwing pots by the fountain between the Grove and the Convention Center. I'd like to shake your hand.
