  •  We had a solar water heater in the 1970s!!! (17+ / 0-)

Wasn't at all uncommon in suburban Honolulu wasn't like my parents were leading edge, greenie hippies. They were just trying to save on Hawaii's outrageous electricity costs--fueled by OIL brought from thousands of miles away.

WTF is wrong with this country??? Why the hell haven't we advanced a lot since then?

My manual transmission '97 Chevy Cavalier--about to meet its maker in a matter of days, after 176k miles of service to my sis & me--gets 42mpg. A stripped-down, basic, no big deal car...never marketed for its gas mileage, BTW. [Official EPA was 29/21...WTF?] I've talked to more experienced man-trans drivers (I just learned to get this hand-me-down) who get 44mpg from their old Cavaliers. THIS IS BETTER MILEAGE THAN MANY OF THE NEW HYBRIDS ON THE MARKET TODAY. Chevy discontinued the fairly reliable Cavalier, and replaced it w/the POS Cobalt.

We know how to do MUCH better than this, folks. The question is:

    Why don't we want to?

Ho'oponopono. To make things right; restore harmony; heal.
