      The trick to winning this one is to get out the right voters. Since it is a off yr that could be difficult but not impossible when this is the issue. Canvassing the campuses will be a key.

      . . . "the Drug War" among California voters; we're not a particularly hysterical bunch in that sense.  (We're only hysterical about the prospect of paying taxes for anything!)  At any rate, there's no such animal as an "average" California voter!  

      Nevertheless, I think the best arguments for legalizing marijuana are that it's (a) vastly less harmful than many drugs that are currently legal, and (b) a prospective economic boon to the California economy and tax base.

      turnout.

      I seriously hope that both the Governors race and the Senate race tighten up.

      Obviously, I want Brown and Boxer to win, but if it's within 5 points a lot more money will be spent trying to get younger and infrequent voters to the polls.
