    came to mind was this book by Douglas Blackmon: Slavery by Another Name.  How is what BP is doing with these prisoners that much different than what was done post-Civil War?

      started aftr Reconstuction and continued until well into the 20th century.  Mainly minorities arrested for such as "loitering" which has a broad definition.
