The Republcians turned out heavily for the primary and ended up voting on health care.

Please don't use Republican talking points to paint Missouri as more conservative than it is.

Obama pulls down Carnahan and his new voters may not turn out.

That does not mean it is over.  Blunt has been running agaisnt Obama.  Carnahan's ads hit hard at Blunt.  No one is engaged now, so the polls are not destiny.

Misouri has progressives and moderates in the Democratic Party.

I think the entire health care battles harmed Dems tremdously because it went on and on.

Carnahan can win.  It does not mean she will.

    But Blunt is beatable.

The economy ius strangling Dems evewrywhere.  Thank Summers and Geithner for that one.

    •  I think Carnahan can win as well... (7+ / 0-)

But not as some progressive lion, which means the idea that Obama's lack of progressive policies is what's hurting her is bunk.  How progressive is Claire McCaskill?  How much did she win her race by?

Sen. Reid is no different than the Republicans who demagogue the issue. He's no different than Sarah Palin, Steve King, Rush Limbaugh. Enjoy the company.

      •  Obama hurts Carnahan. (8+ / 0-)

That seems obvious.  I think it is mostly the economy.  The lack of sucess there hurts her.  "Progressive polcies" include economc policies.  But, yes, the list in that comment does not resonate that much with regular voters.  As you know, Missouri is a purple state.  Economic populists can do well here.  Moderate liberals can succeed.  Progressives have trouble winning statewide.

Carnahn is more prgressive than Claire and I think she will run an economic populist campaign.

Carnahan is just getting started.  Blunt has been running hard against her, but he has mostly been campaigning against Obama, Pelosi and Reid since March.

The Carnahan brand carries a lot more weight than does the Blunt crime family's.  I expect that things will even up soon but that the race is going to stay neck and neck until November.

It's a shame that Feds dropped their investigation of DeLay.
