    that ever since the protests around the Iraq war accomplished nothing, there has been this sense that street protests are worthless.  This has been the predominant view of the Netroots, reinforced by the Obama victory.  Electoral politics was seen as much more important than street protests.  

    But it's time to reevaluate that.  Whatever one thinks of Obama (I'm disappointed in him, but am not willing to sit on my hands and let the Repubs back in without a fight), it should be obvious that pressure from the progressive base in the form of street protests cannot do anything but help our electoral efforts.

    But we'd rather complain, or (lamely) petition the media.  Gimme a break!
