    as she notes in her diary (though i cannot vouch for the truth of it), the bovine IGF-1 is the same as human IGF-1, but the bovine growth hormone is not the same as human growth hormone.

    personally, i wouldn't be surprised to find that BGH affects humans and goats, though not necessarily in predictable ways.

    in any case, it probably isn't worth the expense for Eli Lilly to do the studies to "prove" that rBGH is "safe" and "effective" when used in goats -- there just isn't a big enough market.

      There is 96% conservation of AA, but that doesn't make it functionally the same.  And drinking milk causes proteins to be digested- that is why people don't drink insulin or other proteins used therapeutically.  This is what the American Cancer Society has to say.
