    but I must say, despite all evidence to the contrary, I believe the Democratic party salvageable. While ultimately I would welcome a strong third party (and IRV to give it teeth), I think in the short term our only option is to seize control of the existing party. That would entail identifying and advocating for a strong progressive primary challenger - someone who  would rearticulate traditional Democratic values and actually fight for Main Street. Issues polling proves that most Americans want the banksters brought to heel, social security and medicare protected, our forces withdrawn from these unwinnable wars, etc. A Democrat strongly espousing those positions could draw the golden contrast with the Republican ideology (and our current President's actual performance).
