ALL presentations reach a certain group. It is the AGGREGATE amount of impact and reach that is important.

The Congresswoman is on the Deficit commission so her words have equal weight with the two chairs Bowles and Simpson.  As was evidenced by one of Judy Woodruff's first question as to why it was necessary for her to give her own plan and not just accept theirs.

Thsat is why debate is so important. It involves the audience and allows the electorate to educate themselves instead of just following orders from the leaders. We are supposed to work all this out for ourselves.  That is our civic obligation as a citizen entitled to give thumbs up or down.

It is up to the audience to give the words their own weight and value.
