The Journal Sentinel (biggest paper in the state and formerly moderate liberal) endorsed him because he would "turn over the table," ie, mix things up. He was elected County Executive of Milwaukee following a recall drive (oddly enough) of the prior executive who was embroiled in a scandal and then resigned. He was reelected but in the Governor's race he only got 35% of the County's vote.  The rest of the state voted him in, though, largely because our dispirited base stayed home.  NOT THIS TIME,  though.  Let's recall these jerks.
