Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

ATTENTION: READ THE RULES.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

I've been commenting on my absolute opposition to publicly endorsing the re-election of President Obama, on the basis that any candidate should have to win my vote for the current election.

No seconds just because you're the person in the seat, as it were.

I've amazed any number of Kossacks for having that viewpoint, I know, because they've replied to my comments with amazement at my stance.

Today, I have decided to give that up and the reason why is below the Fleur-de-Kos...

Intro

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).

I've watched all of the Republican Debates, including tonight's.

Their candidate pool is shrinking, but so is their sanity factor.

Tonight's display of Republican icky started right at the first bell.

The first topic of interest and the first question of the night went to Newt Gingrich.

The topic?

His former 2nd wife's television interview with ABC today, and her statements that the former Speaker of the House and values voters candidate since the late 1970s had asked her for an "open marriage" and her compliance in his sexual perfidy.

When the Debate Moderator, John King, asked Gingrich, point blank about this, and
asked:

"Would you like to take some time to respond to that?" asked King.

"No, but I will," said a visibly angered Gingrich, earning sustained applause.

"The destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country, harder to attract decent people to run for public office, and I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate on a topic like that," he said.

The crowd in Charleston, S.C., leapt to its feet and cheered.

Yeah, that's right. The public gets the news that another Republican politician is a cheezy schmuck who just can't get enough sex from his wife, and that this one had the nerve to ask his then-current wife's permission to screw around on her, and the candidate's response is not to apologize for his former behavior.

Hell no.

His response? Rebuke the moderator for having the nerve to ask him about it!

The crowd? These are the same people who've been cheering at the idea of letting poor people just die if they weren't smart lucky enough to have a job and some healthcare insurance. The ones who can't get enough of the ideas of Ron Paul and Rick Perry - to wit, that all healthcare and financial assistance from the federal government is an overreach of power and should end, including Medicare and Social Security.

These maroons gave Newt Gingrich a fucking standing ovation for rebuking the moderator for having the gall to ask such a question!

Plus, Twitter is now flush with references to this YouTube video, which I present to you in all it's (55 seconds) of glory.

So. I'm giving up my principled stand of requiring the President win my vote.

The opposition is insane and their supporters are lemmings on the trot to the cliff.

And anyone who can give a reasonable rendition of a classic Al Green song?

Good enough for me.
