Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

The "People's" government is being held hostage by the Republicans in Congress who obstruct the People's work from getting done because they signed a "I hate the Government" Pledge that was literally written by a 12 year old.

Maybe everyone reading already knows this, but in February 2012, Grover Norquist admitted to Samantha Bee (the Daily Show) that he wrote the GOP Pledge when he was 12 years old.

The thing more puzzling to me is that Republican members of Congress actually signed and are happily beholden to a GD Pledge written by a 12 year old.

February 2012 interview with Samantha Bee:

NORQUIST: My team is winning and it can be taught to Harry Reid. He wanted a $2.5 trillion tax increase last year and he didn't get it.

BEE: Your team is winning? It's like you came up with this whole idea when you were twelve.

NORQUIST: It was something I came up with when I was twelve, to get a teacher to...

BEE: I'm sorry, what did you say? You came up with this idea when you were...

NORQUIST: Seventh grade.

BEE: ...in seventh grade?

BEE (off camera): Yes, the entire federal government is paralyzed because of a document, written by a twelve year old, in 1968.

The Pledge sure looks like is was written by a 12 year old:
I, __, pledge to the taxpayers of the __ district of the state of __ and to the American people that I will: One, oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses; and Two, to oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.
The other day on CNN, Grover equated those who signed his Pledge as being Married to him, Grover:
NORQUIST: "The pledge is not for life, but everybody who signed the pledge, including Peter King, who tried to weasel out of it. 'Shame on him,' as the New York Sun said today. I hope his wife understands that commitments last a little longer than two years or something,"
He then went on to equate signing his Pledge to signing other legal documents:
GROVER: "You don't tell the bank 'oh, the mortgage, wasn't that a long time ago.'  If you make a commitment you keep it."
I guess the Republicans who signed Grover's Pledge are "the brides of Norquist."  hmmm ... does that must mean the Republicans, and Grover, are gay polygamists?

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).

Grover wrote that Pledge when he was 12 years old and when one of his GOP Brides make comments that they want a divorce, Grover becomes a 12 year old bully, gets on tv and rants about them.

Like many spoiled 12 year old when one doesn't get his way, he stomps around and bullies those who disagree with him.  When one of his GOP Brides appears to comprise with Democrats, Grover acts like a jilted lover and lashes out.  In 2003, the Denver Post wrote:

NORQUIST: "Bipartisanship is another name for date rape."
2011 Debt Ceiling and the Spineless GOP Brides of Grover:

Grover's GOP Brides are so spineless that during the 2011 Debt Ceiling negotiations, they met secretly with Grover begging him to let them do "the People's" work.  Naturally, Grover told his brides "no" and so there was no Debt Deal passed.

After the Debt-ceiling debacle, the Washington Post wrote:

With no revenue increases in the final deal, Norquist ... appears to have held the line. His pledge, signed by hundreds of House members, not to raise taxes or revenue remains intact, as does his reputation as a “do not cross” member of the GOP establishment.
In a 2011 interview, former Senator Alan Simpson (R-WY), who co-chaired of the meetings for the Debt-Ceiling negotiations was pissed at Grover's Brides who caved and thwarted the People's work.
SIMPSON: I’ll tell you one thing, only thing Grover can do to you, he can’t kill you, can’t burn your house, only thing he can do is beat you in re-election.  If that means more to you than helping your country out of a terrible situation, you ought not be there.
As he spoke, Simpson got more and more pissed off at Grover:
SIMPSON: If Grover Norquist is more powerful than the President of the United States and the Congress, he should run for President.  Grover Norquist should be examined into, where does he get his money?  I mean, it’s time to now peel all the layers of the onion off of Grover Norquist.
Simpson said it is important to find out who funds Norquist and who Grover is a slave to.
SIMPSON: Any time anybody gets this quote famous and powerful, you know whether its the President of whoever it is in the spotlight, you want to dig in and see how does he get his money?  How much does he make?  Where does his money come from?  How many people are on the payroll? How does he terrify people? Who is he and who is he slave to?
Then Simpson said that Grover's GOP Brides are chickenshits:
SIMPSON: Does he walk up to a guy saying I’m going to defeat you?  Why would you be scared of anybody who says that?  You must be a chicken if you fall for that crap.
2012 Fiscal Cliff:

One of Grover's most famous quote is one where he sounds as if he really hates America.  In fact, if President Obama had said what Grover had said the rightwing's heads would explode:

GROVER: "I don't want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub."
Perhaps Grover has hated America since he was 12 years old and came up with that slogan right along with his Pledge.

I bring up that quote of Grover's because ost recently, November 27, 2012 former Senator Allen Simpson was interviewed on MSNBC regarding the Fiscal-Cliff debate going on.  Simpson chided Grover over that anti-American comment:

SIMPSON: "Well, [Boehner] lost 11 of the Tea Party guys, but he's got then 70 guys who didn't go to Congress to limit government, they came there to stop it. So, how do you deal with guys who came to stop government? And Grover wondering the earth in his white robes, saying he wanted to drown government in the bathtub. I hope he slips in there with it."
Simpson also jabbed at Grover's GOP Brides:
SIMPSON: They love -- they love their -- they love their party more
than they love their country. How did we get to that point? Don`t ask me.
I agree with Simpson, Grover Norquist's masters should be exposed and Grover's GOP Brides, who hold America hostage over a Pledge written by a GD 12 year old, should be defeated and should never have anything to do with writing laws.
