Posting a Diary Entry

Daily Kos welcomes blog articles from readers, known as diaries. The Intro section to a diary should be about three paragraphs long, and is required. The body section is optional, as is the poll, which can have 1 to 15 choices. Descriptive tags are also required to help others find your diary by subject; please don't use "cute" tags.

When you're ready, scroll down below the tags and click Save & Preview. You can edit your diary after it's published by clicking Edit Diary. Polls cannot be edited once they are published.

If this is your first time creating a Diary since the Ajax upgrade, before you enter any text below, please press Ctrl-F5 and then hold down the Shift Key and press your browser's Reload button to refresh its cache with the new script files.

  1. One diary daily maximum.
  2. Substantive diaries only. If you don't have at least three solid, original paragraphs, you should probably post a comment in an Open Thread.
  3. No repetitive diaries. Take a moment to ensure your topic hasn't been blogged (you can search for Stories and Diaries that already cover this topic), though fresh original analysis is always welcome.
  4. Use the "Body" textbox if your diary entry is longer than three paragraphs.
  5. Any images in your posts must be hosted by an approved image hosting service (one of: imageshack.us, photobucket.com, flickr.com, smugmug.com, allyoucanupload.com, picturetrail.com, mac.com, webshots.com, editgrid.com).
  6. Copying and pasting entire copyrighted works is prohibited. If you do quote something, keep it brief, always provide a link to the original source, and use the <blockquote> tags to clearly identify the quoted material. Violating this rule is grounds for immediate banning.
  7. Be civil. Do not "call out" other users by name in diary titles. Do not use profanity in diary titles. Don't write diaries whose main purpose is to deliberately inflame.

Please begin with an informative title:

I wrote a diary yesterday titled First Carrots, Now Sticks.  In it I talked about how the Obama administration is going to release data regarding how many jobs will be created or saved, state-by-state, in order to pressure Republican Congress folks to support the stimulus.  In addition, working people are fighting back.  Americans United For Change, MoveOn.org Political Action, AFSCME and SEIU announced a television advertising campaign yesterday as part of the Campaign for Jobs and Economic Recovery.  And, today, turneresq has a great diary on the new radio ad tying Republican intransigence on the stimulus to Limbaugh:
BRUTAL Ad to Air Tomorrow: 'Are You With Obama or Limbaugh' [audio]

Now, the big sticks are being brought out: The Obama Email List, after the fold.

You must enter an Intro for your Diary Entry between 300 and 1150 characters long (that's approximately 50-175 words without any html or formatting markup).

To the Obama e-mail list, now Organizing for America, house parties about the stimulus plan:

Last year, America lost 2.6 million jobs. This week, some of our
biggest companies announced plans to cut tens of thousands more.

The economic crisis is deepening, but President Obama and
members of Congress have proposed a recovery plan that will put
more than 3 million Americans back to work.

You can learn more about how the plan will help your community
by organizing an Economic Recovery House Meeting:

Join thousands of people across the country who are coming
together to watch a special video about the recovery plan.
Invite your friends and neighbors to watch the video with you
and have a conversation about your community's economic situation.

The economic crisis can seem overwhelming and complex, but you
can help the people you know connect the recovery plan to their
lives and learn more about why it's so important.

Sign up to host an Economic Recovery House Meeting the weekend
of Friday, February 6th

The President's plan passed the House of Representatives on
Wednesday. But if it's going to move forward, we need to avoid
the usual partisan games.

That's why supporters are opening their homes to talk with
neighbors and friends about how the plan will work -- and what
it means for their community.

The video will outline the basics of the plan and how it will
impact working families. It will also include answers to
questions from folks across the country. Invite your friends and
family to watch the video, discuss the plan, and help build
support for it.

Don't worry if you've never hosted a house meeting before --
we'll make sure you have everything you need to make it a success.

Take the first step right now by signing up to host an Economic
Recovery House Meeting:

Time and again, you've demonstrated your commitment to change.
Now you can help America move in an important new direction.

Please forward this email to your friends and family, and
encourage them to get involved as well.

Thank you for your hard work,

Mitch Stewart

Popular pressure is a big stick.

Obama offered them carrots, but they only respond to sticks.  So be it.

Time for action!  Spread the word.

Update I: According to Marc Ambinder, "it appears that only those who have hosted house parties before will get the e-mail, and not all 13 million supporters."

Obama List To Be Tapped Today For Economic Recovery

Update II: Benny Toothpick in the comments makes the point that this statement in the email suggests it went out (or will go out) to everyone:

Don't worry if you've never hosted a house meeting before --
we'll make sure you have everything you need to make it a success.
We'll see.

Update III:

And The Third Man says he got it and never hosted a house party.

I got it and never hosted a HParty (for Obama) (1+ / 0-)
