OK

Sunday!

Itzl AlertingAs you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here.  We care!

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.

So, did my internet get fixed yesterday or was I stood up once again?

If you're reading this, I was stood up.

Maybe I was able to get them to reschedule for today, maybe not.

I'm hoping more people have power restored and roads are cleared so life can stabilize along the East Coast.

We had a bit of a cold front come through - just a bit.  Sunny and 70's, so not unpleasant at all.  I am probably mowing today. And waiting for internet at home.  I pay $75 a month for this?

EDITED TO ADD: They came, finally.  Turned into a major production, too, and they had to go get more help.  The ice storm we had last winter that knocked the internet out apparently damaged the cable lines which is why I've been having crap reception, especially on windy days (which, in Oklahoma, is almost every day).

They ended up replacing the cable lines all the way from the house to the pole in my back yard, and then down the line each direction for I don't know how far.  Then they upgraded the intake box outside my house, then, for grins and giggles, because it was so old (15 years old), they replaced the modem inside my house.

Hopefully, this lasts as long as I live here.
