Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, the former Member of Congress and so called Blue Dog from South Dakota, is contemplating running for the U.S. Senate open seat resulting from the announced retirement of Tim Johnson. Meanwhile Rick Weiland, a strong progressive Democrat, has already announced and has received the endorsement of Tom Daschle among others.

As Stephanie Herserth Sandlin decides whether she will run, it's instructional to go back and watch some of the ads she ran in 2010 pointing out how committed she was to NOT voting with or supporting Democratic priorities when she was serving in Congress before.

Check out this ad from that last campaign:

A Trick Alright - Stephanie Herseth Sandlin

As Rick Weiland said in his announcement, "The Senate is frozen, unable to pass common-sense legislation due to an antiquated filibuster rule requiring 60 Senators’support even to proceed to a vote. Judges can't get confirmed, cabinet secretaries are held up, and common-sense legislation is rejected, even if there’s majority support, as long as that majority is short of the magic 60 Senators. It's crazy."

Do we really need a South Dakota Blue Dog in the U.S. Senate who will be as obstructionist on key Democratic priorities as she was in the House?

Go to Rick Weiland's Facebook page to show your support. His campaign is just getting underway and promises to make Democrats everywhere proud of our great heritage and our priorities on the issues.
