From the band’s Website:
Your Heart Breaks is a queer band based in Seattle, Washington. Originally founded by Clyde Petersen in Bellingham, Washington in 1999, Your Heart Breaks has toured the world for 20 years as both a solo performer and a large ensemble. Our new album, Drone Butch Blues is out on Sofaburn Records in April 2019.
Discovered this band because they had a video that was part of the 2020 Spliff Film Festival Which is essentially a stoner film festival. I was so impressed that I checked out more of their music and found it really compelling. As it happens to be Pride month I thought it would be really cool for this old, straight dude to write a diary promoting some really talented queer artists. So here is my intro to Your Heart Breaks. Really hoping to hear feedback about the band and my diary, especially from the LGBTQ kossacks out there. Please understand that I’m a virgin at this, so don’t be gentle.
I listened to their album Drone Butch Blues and found more of what I love in music, musicianship and thoughtful lyrics. At the heart of the band is leader Clyde Petersen. While appearing to be very butch, Clyde’s singing voice is very soft and feminine and easy to listen to. This album is all that I have heard, but I understand that there are bits and pieces of earlier scattered over the web. My next priority is investigating what’s out there.
Check these guys out! Here’s another video.
