According to what I've been hearing this morning on the news, there is a mini controversy brewing over what happended at the fundraiser Dean had last night.
A couple of hours ago, on MSNBC, their campaign embed said that some of the comedians giving opening remarks at the fundraiser were offensive. One name I caught was Jeanne Garofolo. She and another female comedian used fuck and shit and what-have-you when referring to Bush. I gather Dean was none too happy, refusing(?) at first not to even go on. Opening remarks had to be extended while Dean was deciding. When he finally took the stage he disavowed himself of those remarks rather strongly, leaving some surprised and embarrassed.
Just now I heard Pat Buchanan say that he had a woman who heads a large group of Republicans, upset with Bush and looking to vote for Dean, tell him they are upset with the kind of behaviour displayed last nite. Buchanan said Dean needs to come out with a public statement distancing himself form those kind of remarks.
This is just a heads up as I've seen it mentioned serveral times. Not having seen the fundraiser, who knows how offensive it really was. But the fact that Dean distanced himself from the remarks right off the bat should be enough. However, I have a sneaking feeling that the media just may play with this for awhile.
And as an aside, seems a Kerry aide made a snarkie comment regarding the Gore endorsement. Used the whole "Gore wants Bush to be re-elected" meme.
All guns are now pointed at Dean.
