I haven't seen anything in the diaries about James Bamford's new book "A Pretext For War" that came out yesterday. He is an intelligence expert, whatever that means...His first book "The Puzzle Palace" about the NSA is well regarded.
Some of the things he puts out there:
-After 9/11 Cheney hid out at "Site R," an underground bunker seven miles from Camp David, deep beneath Raven Rock Mountain on the Maryland-Pennsylvania border that is a secret world of five buildings, each three stories tall, computer-filled caverns and a subterranean water reservoir.
-the jet fighters that were in the air on 9/11 were unarmed and volunteered to collide into the hijacked jets.
-the NSC spied on the UN to determine support for the iraq invasion.
-That Tenet, making Bush happy was his number one priority and allowed intelligence manipulation. He quotes a CIA operations officers who says "You know what? If Bush wants to go to war, it's your job to give him a reason to do so."
Unbelievable! Anyone know why this isn't getting more play? Has it been muffled becasue of (gulp) Reagan?
