I'll be the first to admit that that sounds bad. But hear me out.
I"ve spent the last four years feeling like the end was nigh; that the occupant of the White House stood for everything that I hated, and likewise hated everything that was important to me, and that the country was doomed.
But now, I'm really starting to feel good about the election - better than I usually allow myself to feel (I'm the sort of person who sees the times when I'm happy as the times when something really bad is going to happen because it's so frequently been true).
And when we're complaining about President Kerry, it's going to be a world that's a considerably better place. I'm really looking forward to including lines like "Granted, he's infinitely better than Bush, but..." in my posts, because it means that my views actually have a snowball's chance in hell of being heard, which is significantly better than what we've got now.
It means we've got someone willing to change his mind when he makes a mistake as President.
It means we've got a President who realizes that he's fallible.
It means that we don't have deficits that my grandchildren, wil be paying for, and I don't even have kids yet.
It means that we might have a Supreme Court that will actually work for us.
And it means that we will living in a much better world than we are now.
