Halt the fury on the 'Arab street'
"...The full impact of this situation is misinterpreted by our Washington-bound leadership as a result of the agreeable noises and cooperation displayed by a few despotic Arab leaders, particularly in the oil-producing states, who are largely regarded by their people as America's quislings. Few if any such leaders would survive truly democratic elections. If real democracy were to come to this region today, it certainly would result in more Islamist states, which would not have warm feelings toward the U.S. benefactors of regimes that have been torturing and executing them for decades."
