I don't know how the Kerry signs around the country are fairing, but here in some sections of Northwest Philadelphia, they are getting stolen left and right.
Philadelphia Online has a story about it.
Voters are claiming that unknown thieves are plucking their red-and-blue signs supporting the Kerry-Edwards ticket or the blue-and-white placards of the Bush-Cheney campaign from in front of their homes.
Officials said sign-stealing happens all the time before major elections, but West Mount Airy resident Ken Weinstein, 41, is advertising his neighborhood's disdain for the petty crooks with an even bigger sign than the two stolen from his yard in September.
"Bush can steal our yard signs but he cannot steal the election...again," reads Weinstein's banner, which he bought with neighbor Steve Master and which stretches across two light-poles near his Allens Lane home. A second banner also hangs on Germantown Avenue near Mount Airy Avenue, near the
"Northwest for Kerry" office.

"Since we put up the banners, the stealing has stopped," said Weinstein. He estimated that some mysterious person or persons took more than 100 placards from Mount Airy residents in the past months.

I have heard about this banner, and I work at the Northwest for Kerry office on Saturdays, but I have not yet seen the sign. I think that they took the one down for a while because it was right in front of a someone's office. All I know is that the last time I checked, we got about 75 signs from City Committee on Wednesday, and we gave away all of them by 1PM on Saturday, because people want these signs on there lawn. Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill are excited about getting Bush out of there. We are showing Fahrenheit 911 across the street Next Friday night at 6, and hopefully we can get people from nearby Germantown, my home, to come as well.
We will not let Bush steal this election! At least not here in my neck of the woods.
