I didn't want to write about this before the election because I was so hoping that we would win in spite of it, but I have information from an employee of our county SOE call center of a number of suspicious goings-on occurring there in recording new registrations, responding to absentee ballot requests, and possible absentee voting fraud by Republicans.
In mid-September when staffing levels were highest, the only mail-in requests for absentee ballots filled were those from the Bush-Cheney campaign. Later on, forms from independents and Democrats were mailed, often too late to be returned or even received by the voter before election day.
During that same time period, several boxes of new registrations vanished mysteriously, only to re-appear late on October 4 (the deadline). They ended up being stamped "October 5."
Also, it seems an awful lot of Republicans who no longer reside in Florida still get Florida absentee ballots sent to them even though they now live out of state.
It was really disturbing to hear all this, as ours is known as one of the better-run counties, so I can just imagine the shenanigans that must have occurred in Palm Beach County and elsewhere. Of course there's no way to know exactly what effect this had--that would depend on how many people who didn't get absentee ballots were or weren't able to go to the polls to vote, how many were forced to vote provisional because they weren't on the rolls, and of the course the absentee ballots haven't all been counted yet.
