After reading Sauceman's
series of
reports from his Wisconsin campus, it finally dawned on me why I've been having a problem with some of John Kerry's supporters on this site and in real life.
They remind me of dog breeders.
I've been a veterinarian for 14 years, mostly in suburban areas. In that time, the single most obnoxious, know-it-all, class of clients I've encountered are dog breeders.
They always think they know exactly what's best for their dogs (read Democratic party) -- regardless of the fact I have a veterinary degree and might have SOME idea of medical facts (read I'm a life-long Democrat and informed voter). And they don't mind sharing that information with anyone within earshot, whether they ask for it or not.
They are a very insular group - if you're not into breeding and showing dogs (read working for John Kerry), they don't have much time for you. Some are even so restrictive that if you're not into their particular breed (read if you EVER supported anyone except John Kerry), they look down their noses at you.
I've also found some of them to be less-than-honorable (read Americans for Jobs & Healthcare). I've gotten into more than one fight with a breeder who wanted me to tell a client something patently untrue - and most of those phone calls ended with me hearing a loud "click" on the other end.
When I deal with them nowadays, I'm polite obviously and I do my best to help them out because I care about the dogs(read Democratic party), but I sure as hell don't enjoy it.
Something tells me I'll end up feeling the same way during the general election campaign this fall.
