In an attempt develop effective language we can use to frame issues on our terms, I will be periodically suggesting words or phrases we could adopt into our lexicon. These are catchphrases that we should repeat endlessly until they become part of the collective consciousness of American voters. We will need to train ourselves to use these catchphrases in our blogs, e-mails, letters to editor, and when talking to our family and friends.
The Republicans have been quite disciplined in framing issues using this tactic, and we have a lot of catching up to do.
I will try to keep these diaries short and to the point.
"Social Security phase out" instead of "Privatization"
Phase out is more accurate of the republicans true intentions and has a negative frame compared to privatization which has a positive frame.
I am creating an archive of catchphrases on ClearMessage.org. You can add your own and if you've got a good one.
