Take a step back from the specifics of the Great Kos/Jerome/Dean/Teachout Non-Story and consider our reaction. Think of how this would have played out two years ago or so.
Those of us who are ideologically isolated locales would have no place to go to check out the facts. Some of us would have accepted what came over the transom of the media as fact. But, thanks to places like this, we're smarter now. And thanks to the many diarists who report on what's going on in their corners of the world AND to those who comment on the Bigger Issues, the pattern emerges.
This kind of baseless, innuendo-filled accusation is quickly called on the carpet for what it is -- a blatant attempt to divide us, to concentrate our focus on the trivial while they not so subtlely attempt to install their agendas, their candidates, their issues.
They have seen our power, and they are afraid. And it's not going to work this time. They've gotten too clumsy and we've gotten too savvy. So however any of the principles involved choose to handle this, the rest of us should just keep our eyes on the prizes -- DNC Chairmanship, Social Security, the rape of the environment, the mockery of elections in Iraq, the never-ending lies that come from this Administration.
Our true power will NOT be compromised by this diversion. We have seen this kind of heavy-handed interference before, and this time, we're ready for it. So blather away, all you so-called pundits. You can try to make this into a real story as best you can, but we recognize your ulterior motives, and we won't get fooled again!!!
