[My first diary; I apologize if I'm doing it wrong].
How about a day where we organize to buy big-ticket items from blue businesses? The main point will be to get enough media attention to make it a 'story', with the side goal of spending enough to send a message that there is profit in catering to progressives. Obviously, I'm not asking anybody to spend their money in this way just to make a point; I'm merely suggesting that if you were planning to make a big purchase anyway, simply hold off (or, alternatively, make your purchase a bit sooner than you planned).
Once I had the idea, I was struggling a bit to find a date. 9/11 is too tied up with other imagery to be suitable. I considered the date Kerry locked up the nomination, but I want this to be a support of progressivism and liberalism in general, not advocating a particular candidate. Given recent events, the perfect date is August 14th, which will be the 70th anniversary of FDR signing Social Security into law (

What does everybody think? Is this workable?
