I was just reading MSNBC's cover story(its the cover story on CNN.com too), and I see how we have Byrd, Boxer, Levin, Dayton, etc. speaking out against Rice's confirmation. I then see how, of course, Frost spoke for her. But something caught my eye:
Sen. Joseph Lieberman, D-Conn., spoke in Rice's favor.
This has been happening too long. In this case, Rice was the architect behind the lying and falsehoods that took us into a war we cannot get out of. And from the Democratic side, from a Democratic party that is finally becoming united-- we have Joe Lieberman not only voting in favor of Rice, but SPEAKING out in favor of her.
Here is what Joe had to say:
Mr. President: I have always believed that our responsibility to advise and consent does not mean that we have to agree with every opinion or every action that the nominee has ever taken, but that that nominee deserves the benefit of the doubt and that our responsibility is to determine whether the nominee is fit for the position for which the President has nominated him or her and whether the nominee, in our judgment, will serve in the national interest. And I conclude that Dr. Condoleezza Rice meets that standard, at least, and much more.
Secondly, this element of the context in which this nomination is put before us: we are at war. It is a war unlike any we have ever fought before. And here I speak of the world war with Islamic terrorism. It is joined on battlefield in places like Iraq, of course, but it is being fought in the shadows and corners against an enemy that is driven by a fanaticism and acts without regard to human life - others' or their own.
I embrace the best tradition of American foreign policy that always has said that partisanship should end at the nation's shores.

WTF? This is not a Democrat. This is a Republican. We cannot afford to have him on our side.
Now, what can we do? First, he comes from Connecticut, which is moderately solid democrat. JOE IS UP FOR REELECTION IN 2006. Does anyone know who is up against him in the primary?
We need someone strong. If they can win the nomination, it will be easy to win the Senator-ship.
Lieberman has been doing this for too long. He wants to be the "Mccain" of the Democratic Party, but seriously---
hes not. He is not fair, and seems to side with the party in power(namely, the Republican Party).
Im sick of it. Are you?
Please, if you are inclined, RECCOMEND THIS DIARY :)!. Thanks :)
