I saw this over at Raw Story. The BBC show
Panorama, is reporting that US and Coalition forces have been responsible for 60% of the civilian deaths in Iraq between July, 2004 and January, 2005.
The Iraqi Ministry of Health has released the numbers (which are normally only given to members of the Iraqi Cabinet) and they are staggering.
3,274 Iraqi civilians were killed between July 1, 2004 and January 1, 2005. Of these civilians, 2,041 (62.3%) were killed due to actions by the US, the Coalition, or Iraqi security forces. 1,233 Iraqis were killed as the result of actions by insurgents.
More after the break -->
12,657 Iraqis were wounded. 8,542 (67.4%) of these were wounded by actions of the US, Coalition and Iraqi security forces.
John Negroponte, in an interview held prior to the release of the Panorama report, had this to say about the casualties among Iraqi civilians:
"My impression is that the largest amount of civilian casualties definitely is a result of these indiscriminate car bombings.
"You yourself are aware of those as they occur in the Baghdad area and more frequently than not the largest number of victims of these acts of terror are innocent civilian bystanders".
Wrong again, John.
How can we be winning the war of hearts and minds, which is critical, if we are killing more Iraqis than the goddamned terrorists are?!?
This entire war, from planning, to execution, to aftermath, is going to go down in history as one of the greatest blunders ever.
