In a message from Amy Bartholomew

As you probably know, Donald Rumsfeld and the US government are pressuring Germany not to accept the investigation into Rumsfeld's (and others') responsibility for war crimes in Iraq -- in particular, torture at Abu
Ghraib-- that has been brought by the Center for Constitutional Rights New York), supported by Lawyers Against the War and others.
This was sent to me in an email so I will post the rest of the text below the fold -
The prosecutor has discretion whether or not to launch the investigation under Germany's universal jurisdiction law. Therefore, it is very important that Germany be pressured to accept this case. If you have not done so already, please go to the CCR's web site immediately and sign the letter asking the prosecutor to accept the case.

You can also find more information on the case and Rumsfeld's pressure tactics there.
It is important that we act on this Now since Germany is showing more inclination to cozy up to American empire in light of the Iraqi elections (thereby supporting Tariq Ali's claim "the Iraqi elections were designed not so much to preserve the unity of Iraq but to re-establish the unity of
the west. After Bush's re-election the French and Germans were looking for a bridge back to Washington.").
Please publish this call widely and encourage all you know to sign the letter.
Sincerely,
Amy Bartholomew
