I think Bush & Rove are waging an aggressive "Wag the Dog" campaign this week to distract attention from the ongoing propaganda scandals, including James Guckert, AKA Jeff Gannon.
Exhibit A: Bush says the Patriot Act needs to be expanded yesterday at Gonzales' swearing in. I don't know if anything else needs to be said.
Exhibit B: Bush re-nominates rabidly conservative judicial nominees. Our wonderful Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D NV) told the New York Times, "The President is at it again with extremist judges. We should not divert attention from other pressing issues facing this nation to re-debate the merits of nominees already found too extreme by this chamber."
More below the fold...
Meanwhile, Republicans
support the filibuster as a means to encourage Sunni participation in Iraq but threaten the "nucular" option here at home if we filibuster Bush's terrible nominations.
What are your thoughts on this? Should we improve our self-control and not let go of this propaganda scandal until they shoot us dead?
