Monday, April 25, 2005 10 - 11:00 pm
Join us for this profile of a man who, at one time, was within a heartbeat of the presidency and, at another, faced the House Un-American Activities Committee. The program reveals the extraordinary contributions that Wallace -- as scientist, secretary of agriculture and vice president of the United States -- made to America and the world. (CC, Stereo)""
The last American Liberal. The man was a truly amazing person.
A short biography of Henry Wallace by Arthur Schlesinger

He served as Secretary of Agriculture and Vice President under Franklin Roosevelt although he was originally a Republican, a Theodore Roosevelt Republican. He later served as Secretary of Commerce for the Truman administration.
He was a Presidential candidate running on the progressive platform and later on was hauled before the McCarthy House Un-American Committee.
The man was a genius at solving the farm problems of the time.
My closest information about the man was his founding the Pioneer Hybrid Seed Corn Company. He wasn't in it for the money, he had a "passion" for corn breeding. His companies policies reflected his compassion for farmers. Of course, it isn't that way today.
