Kansas governor, Kathleen Gilligan Sebelius, was invited to give a commencement speech at her high school alma mater, Summit Country Day in Cincinnati. That is, until the Archbishop of Cincinnati, Daniel Pilarczyk, told the school to "un-invite" her. Why? Because Sebelius is pro-choice. According to the article in today's Cincinnati Post,

Pilarczyk based his "advice" on the June 2004 document entitled: "Catholics in Political Life."
Yep, the same document that was used to keep John Kerry from receiving communion in some churches.
PLEASE READ ON:
For those of us who have been living in denial (me included) about the blatently political decisions this church continues to hand down, this is the last straw. It is now clear, there is no place for a Liberal, pro-choice Democrat in the Catholic Church anymore. This is truely a sad day.
P.S.
Pilarczyk is the same Archbishop that has been repeatedly dogged by allegatiions of covering up sexual abuses by priests. So, let's get this straight. It's okay to sweep child abuse under the rug, but it's a mortal sin to allow a hugely successful and respected alumni to give a commencemnt speech because she happens to disagree with official church doctrine on one issue. Well, that sounds about right!
