Has anybody else been paying attention to the Republicans vs Galloway? After winning a fiercely-fought contest for MP (in a different district), Galloway used his acceptance speech to issue a broadside (bordering on shrill) at Blair.
Hey! What do you know? In less than a week, the US Senate investigating committee put out a press release charging that Galloway had struck gold by using Iraq's oil for food program to line his pockets. Galloway denies the charge and labels it a political attack, and the next thing you know he is supposed to go before the committee, on May 17th.
Here is the BBC's report: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4541061.stm
And The Guardian's:

I hope this comes off, because it has the chance to be great theater. Do you ever wonder what would happen if a Republican squared off with a real, bona-fide Leftist? I can't really think of that ever happening...
For myself, I don't give Galloway or any other man carte blanche, but I doubt if there is anything to the charges. If Galloway was allotted anywhere near the amount of oil that he is charged with, he would be filthy rich. Instead, I think certain powers that be are obviously out to destroy this guy.
What do you think?
