The "culture of life" has reached an
all new low
The best parts are on the inside:
Gov. Mitch Daniels rejected the request of a convicted murderer for a reprieve of his execution so he could donate part of his liver to an ailing sister.
The decision was announced about 12 hours before Gregory Scott Johnson, 40, is scheduled to die by lethal injection early Wednesday at the Indiana State Prison.
Daniels said he found "no grounds to second guess years of court rulings or to reject the recommendation of the parole board."
The board recommended on Friday that Daniels deny clemency or a reprieve, saying Johnson was guilty of the beating death of 82-year-old Ruby Hutslar and should be put to death as scheduled.
Daniels said he accepted the sincerity of Johnson's motivation in trying to donate part of his liver, but said medical experts had advised against it, saying Johnson's sister would be better served by accepting a new organ through the conventional process.
This might be the most ridiculous fucking thing I've read this year. First, I am against the death penalty, but for me this is not the issue. Indiana courts made the decision, and everyone should live with that. However, this man is trying to save the life of his sister, who has committed no crimes and he is being denied.
I'm glad that "medical experts" have told Daniels that Mr. Johnson's liver is not the best course of action. Instead, she can wait and maybe not get an organ at all and she can die by decree of the state, just like her brother. Who is making this medical decision? Bill Frist?
I'm with the cons on this one, lets err on the side of life. What does it matter if Indiana kills this guy this week or next week? Is the world going to come to a screeching halt? This is a decision made out of sickening spite for the condemned.
We cannot allow our society to punish the families of those condemned to death. This is such an atrocious act that we must stand up and protest this decision. Here is his contact information so you can tell him what a sick evil bastard he is.
