A comment by JLFinch in another diary spurred this thought:
Given that our right-wing Republican friends are the most vigorous backers of the war on Iraq, it only stands to reason that the most diehard among them would be looking for opportunities to fight that war, no?
I'm sure a few have gone, but I'm just as sure that the vast majority of College Republicans have not yet volunteered to serve in the Armed Forces at this time.
Perhaps they just didn't know how to get in touch with military recruiters?
We can help the war effort! Especially Kossacks on college campuses across this great land of ours -- we can help!
Keep reading for the plan (and your assignment!) ...
Here's the plan:
- Find out when and where your local College Republican / Young Americans for Freedom meetings are held.
- Get in touch with your local Army recruiting office.
- Invite the Army recruiter to attend the next meeting; establish yourself as the point person for any follow-up contact prior to the meeting.
And viola ... I'm sure that we'll have helped achieve two great things: 1) Increasing military recruitment numbers, which sure could use increasing, and 2) facilitating opportunities for our right-wing friends to serve their country.
Oh, and while we're at it:
4. It would also be a good idea to alert the local press -- shortly before the Republican meeting attended by the Army recruiter -- that such a meeting will be taking place; it will be good for the war effort if the selfless sacrifices of the College Republicans, dropping out of college to fight for freedom, are widely covered in the press.
Good luck in your assignment -- please report any successes back here at dailykos.com!
