This is a distrubing article
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8186600/site/newsweek/
In it, John McCain claims that Ivy league schools not letting military recruiters is the "height of elitism"
The fake-moderate senator forgets that many folks within the ivy league community didnt want the war in the first place. And that 0% of GOP leaders in congress and the senate have their kids in the military.
So we can see a creeping meme coming along.."recruitment is down b/c limosine liberals wont volunteer"...every damned elite aspect of the GOP is pushed onto the perceived "liberal elite"
NOWHERE in this long newsweek article did they mention the % of republicans that have their kids in the military..they used the obvious high % of minorities in the military..but nothing of all the right-wing pundits who cheer-led for the war.
in fact, they even want so far as to say that both jenna bush and chelesa clinton should join the military--as if bush and clinton both had the same views on war and if THEIR kids were enlisting.
I'm fuming. I know that the MSM sucks bad. I know they need this articles to push the GOP agenda, esp as recruitment is falling. But this low-level new GOP spin--that its the bleeping liberals who dont volunteer..when its THEY who dont volunteer and its THEY who started the war. and its THEY who silenced opposition...
would be just outright outrageous, if it werent so pathetic
