I guess the news is pretty good for us: "Known as a conservative and a strict constructionist in legal circles, Clement also has eased fears among abortion-rights advocates. She has stated that the Supreme Court "has clearly held that the right to privacy guaranteed by the Constitution includes the right to have an abortion" and that "the law is settled in that regard."
The fact of the matter is that getting a non-neanderthal should be viewed as a victory here. Miller should allow a somewhat easy confirmation process, especially considering she was passed before at a 99-0 vote for the appeals court.
I'll be the first to admit, I don't know much about her past the little blurbs I could find this morning, but she seems to be a reasonable judge, possibly in the mold of a slightly more conservative O'Connor.
Bottom Line, it could be worse.
