16 seats in the House to have a real voice in Washington. Coleen Rowley can absolutely be one of them. Got this from her today. I sent $100.00 to help her get a start on beating John Kline, a DeLay enthusiast of the first stripe. Who'll help us out? The 2nd Minnesota can be one of those 16 seats with Coleen Rowley. More after the jump.
Got this from Coleen today.
Dear Friend:
As has been apparent since I announced my candidacy for Congress as a Democrat in Minnesota's Second Congressional District on July 6th, we need a new sense of ethics in this nation. This is the focal point of my campaign for office. Ethical decision-making is both necessary and crucial if the American public is ever going to trust its government again. The truth has been twisted and manipulated far too often by the current administration and its loyal supporters, such as Congressman John Kline.
Karl Rove, President Bush's top advisor, may or may not have illegally outed a covert CIA operative, but what he did when he tried to damage her and her husband for speaking the truth was certainly unethical. Those that stand behind Rove and his underhanded political trickery, like Congressman John Kline, are only emboldening the Bush Administration to continue to operate without any ethical restraints. Things will only get worse if someone does not stand up and say "enough is enough" and returns our government to the ethical standards it once had.
It should be noted that John Kline:
Voted 99% of the time with Tom Delay and the Republican leadership last year (with little or no thought about representing the interests of his constituents and with little or no sense of fiscal responsibility)
Supports the Bush Administration's scheme to privatize social security.
Failed to fund "No Child Left Behind" initiatives.
Supports the Administration's deceptive rationale for the pre-emptive strike upon Iraq.
Has taken money from Tom Delay's corrupt PAC.
Returned from a cursory tour of the Guantanamo Bay prison and dismissed the issue of the detainees and the international appearance problem that such long-term detentions pose by claiming there was nothing to the allegations of abuse.
The people of the 2nd District need someone they can trust to honestly represent their interests instead of special interests.
Unfortunately, in order to expose John Kline and the rest of the Republican leadership and to try and reverse this lack of ethical decision-making I will need money. This is an absolutely crucial time for my campaign. We need funds for television commercials, literature, and a full campaign staff, and we have only a small fraction of the money we will need. Please consider a contribution of $25, $50, $100 or any amount (up to a maximum of $2100.00) online at my website, https://www.coleenrowley.com/contribute.php. Also, if you know any like-minded individuals who you think might be willing to help or contribute financially, please forward this on and get that ripple effect going!
In return, I can only promise you that your money will be wisely spent on this enormous task of trying to take back Minnesota's 2nd District and in trying to restore America's promise at home and abroad. Your financial support and other help will be critical to this effort and will be so appreciated!
Sincerely,
Coleen Rowley
