The silence of the Republican Congressman, moderate and otherwise, has been deafening. Not one Republican Congressman has come out and asked for either Karl Rove or Scooter (Scooter?) Libby's resignation. Not one. Evidently, it's party before country. It's "Profiles in a Lack of Courage", and yes this includes the much heralded, but ultimately emasculated Mr. McCain.
In fact, there are many Republican Congressman who are defending the two louts. It's been more than a month since we first learned of Matt Cooper's conversations with Karl Rove about Ms. Wilson. Since then we have heard that the source document where Ms. Plame's name was first mentioned as a CIA employee was marked "S" for secret and "SNF" for secret not to be disclosed to foreign intelligence agencies. Today, we read that Libby had a meeting with Ms. Miller on July 8, 2003, which clearly was about Ms. Plame. (Miller has a direct line to Cheney?) And what do we hear from the Party of National Security? We hear a big fat nothing. Zip. Not one Republican Congressman has come forward and done the right thing. People in the Administration outed an agent and no one gets taken to task. Has anyone asked their Republican Congressman where they stand and/or what would it take before they would demand the ouster of Rove or Libby? It's time we as Americans - and not just as Democrats/Progressives/Independents - start getting in the face of these Representatives. I see Ms. Sheehan down in Crawford demanding answers. It seems to me that she has set a pretty good example and we should be doing the same.
