Just read a headline stating that the government is going to offer victims of Katrina a $2000 debit card. Given that the relatives of 9/11 victims had to sign off on future lawsuits against the government in order to get their "compensation", I am very dubious that the $2000 debit card is simply an act of goodwill (not that I would expect such). It is very important that the small print be read before people are encouraged to sign on. This has all the markings of a classic (and despicable) move to limit liability (hmmm, I wonder who might be worried about liability) at the expense of people so desperately in need. If anyone can get to the bottom of this, thousands will thank you.
