You have a huge opportunity RIGHT NOW to both stop torture and potentially give King George a big black eye.
Please recommend!
Here's the skinny:
McCain has introduced an amendment to the Defense Authorization Bill. It would forbid torture/abuse/inhumane treatment by US military personnel. Bush has threatened to veto the bill if it comes to him with McCain's Amendment.
McCain just read a letter from Powell (yes that Powell) in support of the amendment.
But it gets better: we can hand Bush a real political defeat if we can get veto-proof Senate support for McCain's amendment.
If we can get enough Senators to support this, we can both stop torture and hand Bush a damaging political loss.

Straight from Human Rights First to your eyes:
Today could be the day. In just hours the Senate is likely to vote on Senator John McCain's anti-torture amendments.

If ever there was a time for you to take action to help end U.S.-sanctioned torture, NOW IS IT. With just a brief moment of your time, you can help us win this crucial vote.
