Important Words from the LORD, the Creator of the universe
Read a prologue in the Westminster Confession of Faith, Chapter 2 Article I.
I. There is but one only,
[1] living, and true God,
[2] who is infinite in being and perfection,
[3] a most pure spirit,
[4] invisible,
[5] without body, parts,
[6] or passions;
[7] immutable,
[8] immense,
[9] eternal,
[10] incomprehensible,
[11] almighty,
[12] most wise,
[13] most holy,
[14] most free,
[15] most absolute;
[16] working all things according to the counsel of His own immutable and most righteous will,
[17] for His own glory;
[18] most loving,
[19] gracious, merciful, long-suffering, abundant in goodness and truth, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin;
[20] the rewarder of them that diligently seek Him;
[21] and withal, most just, and terrible in His judgments,
[22] hating all sin,
[23] and who will by no means clear the guilty.
[24]
- The God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel lives. He is the LORD, the Holy One (there is none other like Him), the Creator of Israel, your King.
- Every human that has ever existed has sinned against God. If you are reading this, you are a sinner and--if you remain in this state--therefore you are the object of God's wrath.
- God became manifest in history as His own Son, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus of Nazareth was born of a virgin, performed many miracles which were witnessed by many people, and was crucified under the reign of Pontius Pilate, the Roman procurator of Judea about 2000 years ago. Jesus died, was buried, and brought back to life by God 3 days after his crucifixion. After His resurrection, He remained on earth for around 40 days. This fact was witnessed by hundreds. He lives now and reigns from his throne in heaven at the right hand of the Father. He will return to redeem Israel and all creation, to judge the quick and the dead, and to imprison the enemy and to remove sin from creation forever. Heaven and earth will be joined.
- We are enslaved by our sin; there is nothing we can, of our own volition, do to save ourselves or reconcile ourselves to God.
- In an incomprehensible act of LovingKindness, God saves us through His Grace by the fact that Jesus the Christ died on the cross for our sins. Jesus drank from the Cup of Wrath for all sinners--past, future and present--and thereby has satisfied God's demand for perfect justice by paying the price for the sin of humanity.
- Those who are His will be drawn to Jesus and express their love for Him by faith in His identity as the Christ, His works in history and His promises. Further, they will realize how their sin has separated them from the love of God and will ask His forgiveness and sincerely seek to repent from their rebellion. Through the work of Jesus, the sins of all those who believe will be forgiven.
Love and peace,
A Sinner.
