Following up on
Sharon Jumper's idea, I've posted an invite describing this diary on
Iraq Blogspot. If you would be so kind as to recommend, we can keep this up long enough for the folks over there to respond at length to the general questions below the jump.
Asalaam Aleikum and many thanks for joining us and sharing your thoughts! We hope it's the start of many such conversations. We're very interested in hearing your answers to the following questions:
-
Is the US occupation increasing or decreasing the chances of a civil war and the possible partition of Iraq?
-
Would the insurgency fade away if US troops withdrew now? Or would Zarqawi's group and others find new targets?
-
Has the US occupation brought benefits to the daily lives of Iraqis that in any way justify its human cost?
-
Billions of dollars have been spent for reconstruction, yet the pace of the effort still seems terribly slow. What do you see on your end that might account for this?
-
Has the US played a constructive role in the political process? Is there any further benefit to US participation in that process after the vote on the new constitution?
I'm sure my fellow Kossacks will have plenty of other questions, so I'll leave the floor to them.Of course, we'll be happy to answer your questions as best we can...
