During this week of Scooter and Alito and Reid, here's a heads-up on an outrage which will add insult to the injury of Hurricane Katrina:
Daniel Schorr, elder statesman of NPR, just had a terrific and necessary commentary on All Things Considered, about the $50 billion of budget cuts about to pass the US House. Of course, these mostly impact social programs for the most vulnerable in society: Medicare, school lunches, help for the disabled and elderly, etc. Could that money come out of the $14.5 billion in subsidies for oil companies? Or the estate tax? Nope, gotta crush the poor.
Here's the nutshell:
When House Republicans talk about reducing entitlements, they weren't talking about those to oil companies.
