A
new Rasmussen poll shows Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell (D) getting a surprising bounce in favorability ratings and in his leads over potential GOP candidates. On Nov. 8 PA voters voted not to retain (to fire, basically) a state judge, and there was a lot of speculation that this was due to voter anger over the
PA legislature's mid-summer vote to give state employees a pay raise. The "pay grab," as local media call it, has been protested by conservative groups and credited for collapsing support for some state reps.
But apparently, no one is blaming Rendell for this. Trends are from July.
Gov. Ed Rendell (D) - 50% (47%)
Lynn Swann (R) - 36% (41%)
Gov. Ed Rendell (D) - 47% (46%)
Bill Scranton III (R) - 39% (42%)
Also, Rendell's favorable numbers are back in plus territory - 53% favorable, 37% unfavorable. That's as good as Swann (49/33) and better than Scranton (46/35).
