This diary is for every Kossack who criticized John Kerry for not fighting hard enough in Ohio.
In the Virginia Attorney General's race, the Democratic candidate, Creigh Deeds, is an achingly 323 votes behind Republican Bob McDonnell. On Monday, November 28, the vote will be certified. Then Deeds, or McDonnell will call for a recount.
On December 6, a three judge panel will hear the request for the recount and set recount procedures, that will be the same in every part of Virginia.
Deeds will need Democratic volunteer observers to witness the recount process. Volunteers are needed in every part of the Commonwealth, but most particularly in the rural areas. (Trolls, please take note, Virginia Democrats are perfectly capable of distinguishing between Democratic volunteers and trolls who show up claiming to be Democrats. Count on it.)
Deeds will also need money. Virginia will pay for the actual recount, but Deeds will need first class legal help to assist him.
Now I want Kossacks to read this next part very carefully. The behavior you reward it the behavior you will get. This recount is being watched by elected officials and their consultants all across the nation. The support Deeds receives will determine the future willingness of other Democrats to call for recounts. If Deeds if left hanging, future candidates will conclude there is no public support for recount fights. If we rally around Deeds, other candidates will think that we are serious and will more likely to press for recounts.
Creigh Deeds is fighting to have your vote counted, will you fight with him? Or are you going to roll?
