If the GOP can truly steal a national election, it won't matter how low Bush's poll numbers are
http://www.mercurynews.com/... how many Repubs are indicted
http://southpaw.goodshow.net/... how many Neocon crimes are uncovered
http://www.antiwar.com/... or how many great progressive candidates we can field in '06
http://www.emilyslist.org/.
I truly believe that if we don't reclaim at least one congressional majority in '06, it will be too late for our democracy, so there's not much time left.
Unfortunately, most Americans don't even know about this because there has been a media blackout on this issue http://www.counterpunch.org/....
See the flip to find out what you can do:
What you can do:
1. Learn the facts about the election fraud that has already been uncovered.
Here's a good place to start: "20 Amazing Facts About
Voting in the USA" http://nightweed.com/.... See the latest map showing which states have already voted for verifiable elections: http://www.verifiedvoting.org/. Bradblog is also doing a great job of covering this issue: http://www.bradblog.com/.
- Tell others. Most sensible Republicans don't want elections stolen either. And few people are even aware of this issue. Drop a few facts from #1 above and see how people react.
- Fight the media blackout. Keep the pressure on the MSM to cover this story. E-mail snippets and facts to Olberman, Dobbs, Hannity! Below are some tools:
A super-easy webpage that will automatically
send a letter to the editors of all your local and regional newspapers:
http://www.democrats.org/...
FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting) also has a great site that will allow you to contact virtually any media outlet with one click: http://www.fair.org/...
4. Find out the status of election reform in your state, your district. (Here's a start: http://www.verifiedvoting.org/). Do you have e-voting with no paper trail? Are your local election officials all partisan Republicans? Get involved and work to change it!
UPDATE:
The comments so far have been mostly far better than my original diary. Thank you. It gives me hope that so many intelligent people care about this issue.
There's a lot of info out there, on so many important issues, and most of us don't have time to read half of it. That is one reason I finally decided to concentrate on the issue of election fraud. I feel that if we progressives can fix this one thing, if we can take back our election process, and thereby our government, all the other things we care about--the environment, choice, our constitutional freedoms, poverty, health care, foreign policy, etc., etc.,--will be in safer hands. Then maybe we can all take a deep breath and relax a bit!
I will try to keep this issue on the forefront in the days ahead by continuing to post short, informative bits of info that Kos'ers can use and pass on.
Paper ballots. Hand counted. In public.
